Stirling Albion home league record ends at ten months as pace-setters edge out Binos

Fortress Forthbank was finally breached on league business on Saturday - but Stirling Albion boss Darren Young insists his side’s performance left much to be confident about.

The Binos were looking on for an excellent point against Falkirk after Aaron Dunsmore cancelled out Ross MacIver’s early strike as the half-time oranges were being cut.

But a late mistake allowed the chance for Brad Spencer to rifle home a winner for the jubilant Bairns five minutes from time and keep up their unbeaten league start.

For Stirling, it was another reminder of the razor-thin margins at League One level but it was still a display where much positivity could be taken ahead of a trip to Kelty Hearts on Saturday.

Binos manager Young was adamant his side deserved something from the game and bemoaned some close shaves that could have given Stirling an important lead before the late hammer blow.

Young said: “We’re happy with the performance but just disappointed with the result that we don’t at least pick up a point.

“At 1-1, there are a couple of opportunities, we have one cleared off the line from Lewis [Milne] and we were just looking for that to go over the line.

“They’ve had a few chances of their own that we had to defend, but we competed all over the park against one of the two sides along with Hamilton that will be the title winners this season.

“There’s frustration as well because they are poor goals to lose, we should be clearing our lines on the first one and then the boy puts it in the top corner and then the same for the second, we should clear it but don’t and are punished. That’s the difference between the full-time and part-time teams - at this level, you will be punished for those mistakes.
