Stirling Albion boss Darren Young highlights importance of ending side's losing slump

The opening course of a crucial three weeks begins for Stirling Albion tomorrow as they arrest their slide down the League One table.

The Binos have endured a nightmare period, which has culminated in six defeats on the spin across league and cup action and won only one in their last eleven matches.

It doesn’t get any easier for Stirling with the visit of Stewart Petrie’s Montrose to Forthbank, fresh off holding league leaders Falkirk to a goalless draw on Tuesday night.

The weekend’s match is followed up by a vital pair of games against the league’s bottom two sides in Edinburgh City and Annan Athletic, with Stirling itching to get back on track before entering those games.

Stirling’s previous meeting with Montrose this season in Angus, back in September, is an indicative one for the Binos’ troubles this season, with good chances in front of goal missed with a late Kane Hester goal keeping all three points at Links Park.

Binos boss Darren Young acknowledged the importance of the upcoming trio of games – but said last Saturday’s cup defeat offers the chance for his side to address their flagging league form.

Young said: “We look forward to the next three games – Montrose, Edinburgh and Annan – and it’s three big games for us, back to the bread and butter with no other distractions.

“I know we’re not far away from getting the wee win to turn things around, whether that’s a confidence or belief thing, we still kept pressing on at the weekend and creating chances and defensively, it just seems to be that we’re taking turns to make a mess of it for mistakes leading to goals.

“It’s a hard one to stop whether it’s not matching runners or picking up a man and at the same time, guys are missing chances.”
