Banyana draw first WAFCON qualifier against Burkina Faso as Janine van Wyk equals world record
Banyana Banyana secured 1-1 draw with Burkina Faso in their Wafcon first-leg qualifier at the Charles Konan Banny Stadium in Yamoussoukro on Thursday as defender Janine van Wyk ran out in her 184th match for South Africa.
By doing so, Van Wyk equalled the world record for most national caps, which she now shares with Ahmed Hassan of Egypt.

The match started slowly, with both sides feeling each other out in the opening 10 minutes and no real attacking intent shown.
Banyana thought they had scored in the 38th minute, but Thembi Kgatlana's effort was ruled out for offside.
Two minutes later, Noxolo Cesane almost broke the deadlock but her effort was well saved by the Burkina Faso goalkeeper as the teams went into half-time at 0-0.
The hosts came out strongly at the start of the second stanza, forcing Banyana keeper Andile Dlamini into a few saves.
Banyana finally broke the deadlock in the 56th minute when Hildah Magaia scored with a spectacular long-range effort for a 1-0 lead to the visitors.
Desiree Ellis's charges almost doubled their lead eight minutes later, but Kholosa Biyana's effort struck the woodwork.
Burkina Faso made Banyana pay for their costly misses as they equalised through Yasso Konate with 22 minutes remaining in the match.
The second leg takes place on Monday, 4 December, at the Lucas Moripe Stadium in Pretoria, with South Africa holding an advantage thanks to their away goal and Van Wyk looking to claim the appearance record for herself.
