Annan Athletic boss wants stirring show at Stirling Albion after Cove Rangers collapse

Annan boss Peter Murphy is demanding a stirring show at Stirling tomorrow to make up for their collapse against Cove.

The Galabankies crashed to 10-man Cove Rangers at home last weekend in a League One encounter where frustrated manager Murphy was shown a straight red card.

Now he wants his side to bounce back against Stirling Albion.

Murphy said: “I am looking forward to it now.

“They won against Edinburgh City last weekend at their place, so we know it will be a tough game this Saturday.

“They have moved ahead of us in the league table and this season there have been plenty of ups and downs with plenty more to come.”

Murphy was still smarting from the 3-1 loss against in-form Cove and admitted he was baffled by whistler Ross Hardie’s decisions during the 90 minutes

He said: “It was a little bit frustrating,

“I felt Michael Garrity was through on goal with a goal scoring opportunity when he was brought down and the referee made the excuse their player was level and only booked their player.

“Then there was the penalty we conceded, and although there was contact, our player was trying to get out of the way, but the ref gives a penalty against us.

“Then Aidan Smith runs into the box and is brought down but no penalty. I wasn’t very happy and referee was making decisions easily against Annan.

“I was sent off with a straight red card and I cannot wait to hear his explanation for a red card rather than a warning.

“Their second goal, Cove record the games and they could not distinguish if it was a goal or not and the linesman was eight yards behind play, but yet he made the decision.

“Again we were playing against a very good, in-form side.
