Steve Morison issues Cardiff City team news update ahead of Huddersfield Town clash

Morison revealed that Curtis Nelson will be unavailable for selection still as he recovers from injury.

Max Watters is also set to miss out as he has been ruled out for the next six weeks of action.

Morison is disappointed to lose the forward for such a long period, with the timing of the injury not helping the side either.

The Cardiff boss held clear the air talks with the forward last week after he was substituted during the first half for his poor performance in the win over Coventry City.

Watters suffered an ankle injury after a bad landing during training that followed those talks.

In better news, Cardiff should be welcoming the return of Joe Ralls to the side soon, after he returned to training on Monday.

“[Curtis] Nelson is missing. Max Watters is a minimum of six weeks,” said Morison, via Wales Online.

“It’s never nice to lose a player, it’s really unfortunate how it happened. It goes with the territory. He’ll be fine, hopefully.

“Six weeks is the minimum, so we will aim for six. Let’s hope he doesn’t need surgery or anything like that.

“Rallsy came back in training yesterday. If he comes through training he will be available for selection as well. It’s all good.”

Cardiff go into this midweek’s round of fixtures 19th in the Championship table, but 15 points clear of the relegation zone.

The Bluebirds travel to the John Smith Stadium to face Huddersfield Town on Wednesday evening.

The timing of the Watters injury is extremely fortunate as it has denied him the chance to give Morison an immediate response to his first half substitution.

It will be a tough game on Wednesday given the form of Huddersfield.

But Cardiff have picked up some wins in recent weeks as they have steered themselves clear of a relegation
