Antoine Semenyo makes admission on his Bristol City future amid previous Celtic, Nottingham Forest and Watford interest

Bristol City striker Antoine Semenyo has hinted he may be open to playing at the highest level now if the opportunity comes along, but is in no rush whilst he improves his craft as he spoke to Sky Sports.

The 22-year-old has been on top form since mid-November for Nigel Pearson’s side, shining alongside another talisman in Andreas Weimann in recent months and recording six goals and seven assists in his last 12 league matches.

His performances have attracted interest from elsewhere, with Premier League outfit Watford and former Scottish Premiership champions Celtic both thought to have been monitoring his situation at Ashton Gate.

However, it was Championship side Nottingham Forest that made the most notable move for the forward as they launched a bid on deadline day, an approach that was rejected by officials at Ashton Gate with the Robins desperate to retain one of their prized assets.

His contract runs out in 2023 which may tempt City to cash in on him in the summer, though they do have the option to extend his stay by 12 months and this could potentially provide the second-tier outfit with a lot more power at the negotiating table.

Semenyo isn’t exactly pushing for a move away anytime soon though, as he remains fully concentrated on taking his game to new levels.

Speaking to Sky Sports on playing at the highest level in the future, he said: “It has always been a dream of mine from when I was young.

“But whether it comes now or in a few years, I’m not in any kind of a rush.

“I just want to keep working on my game so that if I do ever get to the top then hopefully there’ll be no problems.”
