Steve Cooper confirms Nottingham Forest injury doubt ahead of Manchester United fixture

Nottingham Forest will assess Ola Aina and new signing Gonzalo Montiel before their clash with Manchester United, but the trip will come too soon for centre-back Felipe.

United host Forest at Old Trafford for their Premier League clash. Erik ten Hag's side are desperate for an improved display after a poor showing against Tottenham last week.

Anything less than three points will bring further scrutiny with one week left in the transfer window. Injuries to Mason Mount and Luke Shaw haven't helped United's chances.

Forest will be without centre-back Felipe, who has stepped up his recovery but isn't ready to feature. Aina is a doubt having trained for part of the week, potentially opening the door for Montiel to make his debut.

“I don’t want to speak too soon because we know how it’s been in the past year or so, but we’re in a fairly healthy position,” Steve Cooper said ahead of the trip to Old Trafford. “There are still a lot of lads returning to full fitness.

“We want that competition," he added on Montiel, who joined on loan from Sevilla on Wednesday. "The idea is we add more players from now until the end of the window.
