Stephen Mulhern responds after Coronation viewers do a double take to King Charles' outfit

Gameshow host Stephen Mulhern has responded after viewers watching King Charles III's coronation did a double take. As all eyes were on the new king at Westminster Abbey, many couldn't help feel that they had seen the monarch's dazzling golden attire somewhere else.

No Context Brits tweeted: "Who wore it better?" as they shared, side-by-side, a snap of the King next to In For A Penny host Stephen in his signature sparkling golden jacket. As the comments flooded in, Stephen himself joined in the fun by sharing the tweet.

And he replied: "There is no competition really! You can see the real thing tonight at 6:30pm on @ITVand @WeAreSTV." He added jokingly: "Now, where's my crown?"

@staffdb66 joked that Stephen's TV pals Ant McPartlin and Declan Donnelly, who attended the historic service, had 'lent' the jacket to the king. They quipped: "Presumably @antanddec had took it to lend the King - and will be bringing it back to you! - they get everywhere... EVERYWHERE!!!!"

@amandawinter13 gasped: "I said as soon as I saw it, Omg he’s got Stephen Mullherns jacket from In for a penny." And @GrayPilch501 joked: "In for a penny, in for a crown."

@beckyclempson told Stephen: "I said he’s pinched the in for a penny jacket." And @laura23killjoy said: "Lmao I said the same thing to my partner when they put it on king Charles."

Charles' 'jacket' is infact the royal Supertunica, made for King George V’s coronation on June 22 1911 by robemakers Wilkinson & Sons. The full-length garment, which weighs around 2kg, is made of gold silk. The design of the Supertunica, which is fastened with the Coronation Sword Belt, is based on priestly and religious vestments.
