Stefan Gartenmann reveals Aberdeen FC future up in the air as overhaul leaves stars facing uncertainty

Stefan Gartenmann has admitted his long-term Aberdeen future is up in the air after Barry Robson’s dismissal.

The Danish defender is on-loan from Midtjylland but the Dons had opened talks to buy him permanently. The departure of Robson and Aberdeen having put Neil Warnock in temporary charge means that Gartenmann is now likely to wait and see who takes over the Pittodrie hot seat. Gartenmann confirmed: “That changes a lot and there is a bit of uncertainty at the moment. I know that the talks are there. The agent is taking care of the business. I know there has been talks between the clubs and the agent and both clubs. It takes three or four parties to agree. I will leave myself out of it for now. In a month or two we will take a decision and we will see what happens.”

Aberdeen have put Warnock in interim charge until the summer. That is allowing the club to do a full external review and also look to appoint a new long-term manager. That indecision could throw the futures of several players in doubt. Midfielder Connor Barron and keeper Kelle Roos are two players who are out of contract come the end of the season. Aberdeen would be entitled to training compensation if Barron was to move on.
