St Mirren wait as Interpol and UEFA 'investigating' alleged Valur and Vllaznia DEATH threats

Interpol have been drafted in to investigate an incredible bust-up between Valur and Vllaznia in the Europa Conference League qualifying - with St Mirren awaiting the winner.

The Buddies make a long awaited return to the European stage in the second qualifying round with the Icelandic or Albanian outfit providing the opposition for Stephen Robinson's men. And there are even doubts that UEFA will sanction the second leg in Albania to go ahead.

Both the governing body and Interpol are investigating the incidents after alleged death threats were issued by the Albanian club's board members and one of their fans reportedly threatened to stab a steward in his eyes, after the hosts grabbed a 99th minute equaliser in a 2-2 draw which led to carnage, with Northern Irish ref Tim Marshall spat on. UEFA are reportedly considering what sanctions to hit the clubs with and it's been suggested in the Icelandic media they may even move the second leg from the Albanian city of Shkoder. The duo are due to play out the return fixture of their two-legged tie this coming Thursday.

Valur stated: "This a very serious matter that has escalated, It is now the highest priority of UEFA and because it was a police matter involving two nations, Interpol are now investigating. We completely condemn this behaviour, which had nothing to do with football. We are awaiting a reply from the relevant authorities and in the meantime, will concentrate all our efforts on the second leg."
