St Johnstone WFC manager Kev Candy on continuity, role enjoyment and tackling Hibs in the Scottish Cup

St Johnstone WFC manager Kev Candy believes continuity counts - and that a level of stability can only be positive moving forward.

Following the departure of Jamie Reynolds, Candy continues to take hold of the Perth reins and is currently being assisted by first team coach Nathan White and analyst Lawrie Mitchell.

There has, across the past few seasons, been a number of different managers and coaches involved with the Scottish Women’s Premier League 2 outfit.

Candy, who was previously in joint charge with Reynolds, said: “There is no question that the level of managerial churn in the last few years hasn’t been helpful to building a solid base.

“But that said, during those periods of change there has been fairly pronounced peaks of achievement and excellent results. That says a lot about the playing personnel.

“I felt strongly that the players deserved - and indeed have earned - some continuity in terms of the managerial role and that’s something I fully intend to provide.

“In terms of our football staff, the continued contribution of Nathan and Lawrie further aids our stability and I’m looking forward to appointing and introducing two key new staff additions in the very near future.”

Candy added: “I’m very much looking forward to continuing to work with the group.

“Quite frankly, if that enjoyment hadn’t been there the front half of the season, I wouldn’t have taken the role on at this stage.

“There is something very special in the environment and fabric of this club, but that is something that needs to be cultivated and nurtured as we move forward.
