St Johnstone v Motherwell postponed amid Storm Babet red weather warning
Motherwell's match with St Johnstone tomorrow has been postponed as Storm Babet batters the UK.
A red weather warning is in place for much of North-East Scotland and the decision has been taken to call the game off, 24 hours before the match at McDiarmid Park was due to take place.
The Steelmen had been preparing for their first game back since the international break, looking to stop a run of four straight defeats.
However, they will now need to wait until next Saturday to have that opportunity, when they welcome Ross County to Fir Park for a Premiership clash.
A new date for the Saints fixture will be announced in due course.
A statement from St Johnstone read: “The club can confirm that our match against Motherwell tomorrow afternoon has been postponed.
"The decision to postpone the match has been made in the interest of public safety as emergency services are currently stretched thin.
"Additionally, further extreme weather conditions are forecast across the Perthshire area with a red weather warning now in place until tomorrow midnight.
"For the avoidance of doubt, the club has not raised any issues or concerns regarding the playing surface or surrounding areas in McDiarmid Park. “
