St Johnstone midfielder Cammy MacPherson feeling better physically and mentally as confidence continues to grow

In-form Cammy MacPherson believes he is reaping the rewards of his confidence increasing with every passing game.

The St Johnstone midfielder, unfortunate with injury in times gone by, has been a top performer in recent weeks.

Physically and mentally, MacPherson feels stronger and that Perth fans are now starting to see what he is capable of.

Yet, despite his strong run of performances, there remains a focus to become even better through to the end of the season.

MacPherson, speaking after Saturday’s 1-1 draw with St Mirren, said: “When I first came in it was terrible luck with injuries. I couldn’t really show what I could do.

“I feel I am building confidence. I am feeling better physically and mentally going into the games.

“I have said since I got here that I just need a run of games to put consistency in my performance and show what I can do.

“In the last few games I’ve started, I feel like I am getting a wee bit better every game. Hopefully I can keep racking up the games and keep getting better towards the end of the season.”

MacPherson’s cause in the middle of the park has been aided by playing alongside Dan Phillips - and vice-versa.

Phillips, unfortunately, was ordered off in the first half of the weekend’s draw and looks set to miss a trip to Tynecastle this coming Saturday.

“It looked harsh on the pitch,” MacPherson said of the red card decision. “At the time it didn’t even look like Dan was trying to tackle him.

“The ball has bobbled on the pitch and he has tried to react. I thought it was harsh.

“It is frustrating for Dan because he has been having a run of games. We have been complementing each other well and playing well.
