Spurs source: Conte now faces losing 'perfect' player as he allegedly lines up new club

As per a ‘Tottenham source’, speaking to Football Insider, a major update has come to light on the future of international defender Joe Rodon.

The 24-year-old has rarely been selected by manager Antonio Conte at Spurs this season despite showing real signs of promise under Jose Mourinho and barely putting a foot wrong when given the opportunity.

Rodon hasn’t been handed a single minute of Premier League action since the Italian took charge at N17 with all of his starts coming in cup competitions this season (WhoScored).

Conte did say he regarded the centre-back as a back-up to star man Eric Dier, but during the Englishman’s time on the sidelines, Rodon still did not get a look-in.

Now, sharing a major exit development, Football Insider have news.

According to their Spurs source, Rodon has ‘100%’ decided to leave as he sets his sights on quitting Tottenham – with Conte now facing the prospect of losing him this summer.

The Wales international, as revealed in FI’s headline, has allegedly ‘lined up’ a ‘new club’ and wants to leave north London permanently amid his lack of chances.

We believe there is a fair bit of sympathy to be had for Rodon’s situation at Spurs going by his obvious ability.

It is unclear why Conte has not handed more chances to the defender who has been called ‘special’ and revered by Welsh journalists for his performances at international level.

Mourinho was also a fan of the starlet, calling Rodon a ‘perfect‘ player during his reign, and there will certainly be no shortage of suitors in the summer after Newcastle and Brighton apparently showed an interest in the winter window.
