Spurs: 31 G/A 'big name' tipped to replace Harry Kane

Tottenham Hotspur would need a ‘big-name player’ such as Benfica’s Darwin Nunez to replace Harry Kane if he was to leave in the summer, according to journalist Pete O’Rourke.

Kane’s future remains far from certain following his attempts to force an exit last year, and manager Antonio Conte would surely need a top-class performer to succeed his talisman.

Last summer, Kane was the subject of intense interest from reigning Premier League champions Manchester City, with Pep Guardiola even admitting they had up to four bids rejected for his services.

A recent report in The Athletic, though, claimed that it’s their local rivals Manchester United who are now in the box seat for the prolific 28-year-old.

It’s claimed that United are eager to prise Kane away from the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium ‘regardless of who is in charge next season’, although the appointment of former Spurs boss Mauricio Pochettino could prove to be beneficial in their attempts to sign him.

And replacing the England international’s output will be no easy task for the north London outfit.

Since making his first-team debut back in 2011, Kane has registered 243 goals and 56 assists in 378 appearances for Tottenham, establishing himself as one of the world’s top marksmen.

O’Rourke believes it will take an established star to fill the void that Kane’s potential exit would create and has tipped Nunez, who has been described as a ‘predator’, as someone capable of doing just that.
