Springhill Boxing Club pack a punch at Western Districts with eight medal wins

Springhill Boxing Club took eight medals from the Western District Schools and Youth Championships in Motherwell.

The Shotts club took two gold and six silver medals from the competition, which was held at M&D’s leisure complex in Motherwell over two days at the end of February.

Josh Mullen and Drew Campbell won gold, with Brandon Murray, John Deighan, John Kelly, Keenan Roney, Jayson Sneddon and Lewis Swan all picking up silver medals.

Head coach Frank Delaney said: “I am really pleased with the progress all of these boys are making, and I was delighted to come away with two gold and six silver medals.

“Between the recent Novice Championships and the Western District Championships, the club has picked up six gold and seven silver medals, with the majority of these lads boxing in their first ever bouts.”

Next up for the club is the Scottish National Elite and Youth Championships at Ravenscraig over the weekends of March 19 and 20 (preliminary rounds), March 26 and 27 (semi-finals, including youth finals), with the finals on April 9.

Springhill will be represented by Josh Mullen and Brandon Murray in the youth category.
