'Spoken to Dan Burn' - 29 y/o likened to Maradona could follow Burn, Ekitike & Targett to NUFC

A Newcastle United journalist has claimed that Jesse Lingard could reunite with his old teammate Dan Burn at St. James’ Park before the deadline.

The St. James’ Park faithful are set to announce the signing of Burn from Brighton and Hove Albion on Transfer Deadline Day, and he will follow Kieran Trippier, Chris Wood and Bruno Guimaraes through the door in the North East.

They are also reportedly working on deals for both Hugo Ekitike and Matt Targett, and their business may not be done there.

As per Newcastle World journalist Jordan Cronin, Lingard has apparently talked to Burn over his potential move to Tyneside, and he could link up again with his former teammate at the Magpies, with a move not being ruled out today:

“Jesse Lingard has apparently spoken to Dan Burn about the defender’s potential move to #NUFC.

“The pair played at Birmingham together. Just maybe they might link up again on Tyneside.

“Still lots of work to do on both deals, Burn obviously a lot more likely than Lingard.”

If the Toon can get a deal over the line for Lingard, as well as Burn, Ekitike and Targett, then it would be nothing short of a dream ending to the window.

With nine goals and supplying a further five assists for West Ham United last season, the 29-year-old’s last loan spell away from Old Trafford was good enough to draw comparisons to Diego Maradona (talkSPORT), and NUFC can hopefully expect a similar sort of impact for them.

Nonetheless, with just six months left remaining on his current contract, another loan would really suit Newcastle, as if he does perform well, they could potentially get him for free at the end of the season.
