Splott Road in Cardiff closed due to 'serious incident' - latest updates

A busy residential road in the Splott area of Cardiff has been closed as a result of a "serious incident" during the early hours of Monday morning. South Wales Police are at the scene.

Police said the road is closed in both directions between Carlisle Street and Adeline Street. Motorists are being asked to avoid the area and seek alternative routes.

The precise nature of the "serious incident" has not yet been confirmed. Google Maps showed slow moving traffic on Splott Road between Carlisle Street and Railway Street at around 3.30am.

A tweet from South Wales Police Control Room at 3.20am read: "We are at the scene of a serious incident on Splott Road, Cardiff. The road is currently closed in both directions between Carlisle Street and Adeline Street. Motorists are advised to avoid the area and use alternative routes where possible."
