Southampton may 'try their luck' to sign 41-cap Broja teammate

Southampton could “try their luck” in trying to sign Chelsea striker Michy Batshuayi this summer, according to ex-Saints midfielder Carlton Palmer.

The 41-cap Belgium international still has more than 12 months left on his Stamford Bridge contract but he hasn’t played competitively for the Blues for more than two years and could seek a move away from west London.

Batshuayi is in his sixth season as a Chelsea player, but considering his last appearance came during Frank Lampard’s first campaign as manager suggests that he has little future under Thomas Tuchel.

According to TEAMtalk, Wolves, Everton, Brighton, and Leeds are all in the race for the striker, who’s scored 15 goals in 77 appearances in England’s top-flight.

And Palmer expects Southampton to seek an opportunity to try and sign the 28-year-old when the window reopens for business.

He told GIVEMESPORT: “Of course, all of the players that are out on loan, the managers and chairman are going to try their luck with Chelsea, knowing that the situation they’re in at the moment.”
