Southampton have explained Romeo Lavia transfer stance amid Manchester United monitoring
Manchester United are admirers of Romeo Lavia and Southampton manager Russell Martin admits the midfield star could leave this summer.
Southampton face a battle to keep hold of their midfield star, following relegation to the Championship. The south coast side have already rejected two bids from Liverpool as they hold out for around £50million.
The Independent reported on Wednesday that United could make a late move for Lavia, having seen Jurgen Klopp's side fail with two proposals. The Manchester Evening News understands that while United are admirers of the 19-year-old, his price would make a move unlikely and highly dependent on player sales.

Lavia did feature for Southampton in a friendly against Bournemouth last week, with Martin quizzed on his in-demand midfielder after the game.
"You can ask for an update, but I can't give you one because I don't know," the Saints boss admitted. "I'm going to speak to Jason [Wilcox, director of football] now but I've been preparing for this game. I'll only ever be honest with you guys but I’m yet to find out.
"Romeo has a lot in his head. [I am] pleased with his attitude, easiest thing to do would be to not play tonight. It's not easy for a young player to handle the noise, but he's handled it well. Latest news is very public, he may still be here he may not."
Erik ten Hag is open to further arrivals once the £72million signing of Rasmus Hojlund is confirmed. The Dutchman is keen to reinforce midfield and could see Donny van de Beek and Fred leave.
