Sligo Rovers' Daniel Lafferty has ban reduced to four games on appeal

Sligo Rovers' Danny Lafferty has had a six-match suspension reduced to four games on appeal

The Sligo defender was dismissed following a clash with Kyle Robinson in the penalty area during the Bit O'Red's FAI Cup defeat to Drogheda United on 21 July.

Lafferty was subsequently hit with a six-game ban but Sligo successfully appealed the severity of the sanction and he will no miss four matches instead.

An FAI statement said: "An independent Appeal Committee of the FAI has upheld Sligo Rovers FC's appeal on the severity of Daniel Lafferty’s six match suspension following his red card for violent conduct in the Sports Direct Men’s FAI Cup First Round fixture versus Drogheda United FC on 21 July, 2023.

"In accordance with FAI Disciplinary Regulations, Daniel Lafferty will now serve a four match suspension."
