Source - Seahawks decide not to sign RB Joe Mixon after physical - ESPN

The Seattle Seahawks decided not to sign veteran running back Joe Mixon to their practice squad after he underwent a physical, a source told ESPN's Adam Schefter.

Source had told ESPN on Monday that the team planned to sign Mixon but that it was contingent on passing a physical.

Mixon worked out for the Seahawks on Monday.

«Joe worked out this morning and he's going through the process right now,» Seahawks coach Mike Macdonald said Monday.

Mixon, 30, was released in March by the Houston Texans after missing the entire 2025 season due to a foot injury. In 2024, he rushed for 1,016 yards and 11 touchdowns, earning Pro Bowl honors in his first season with Houston.

Rookie Jadarian Price, the Seahawks' top running back and first-round pick, will miss at least three more games after he was placed on injured reserve Saturday with a chest injury. During his pregame radio interview on Seattle Sports 710-AM, Seahawks general manager John Schneider said Sunday that while it's not clear how long Price will be sidelined, the team doesn't «see it as a season-ending thing at all.»

Jacardia Wright, the only running back currently on Seattle's practice squad, is dealing with a foot injury, a source told ESPN.

«We're down runners,» Macdonald said Monday when asked about Seattle's interest in Mixon. «We need running backs. He's a good running back.»

The Seahawks plan to sign running back Robert Henry Jr., an undrafted rookie out of UTSA, off the Washington Commanders' practice squad, a source told ESPN, confirming a report by Jordan Schultz.
