Source - Jordan Elliott attempted to retrieve gun from car - ESPN
Former Tennessee Titans defensive lineman Jordan Elliott was attempting to retrieve a gun from his car following an altercation with a teammate during practice last week, a source confirmed to NFL Network's Mike Garafolo.
The Titans released Elliott on Tuesday, citing an undisclosed «incident» that occurred at the team facility last Thursday.
A source confirmed to Garafolo that, after a dispute with offensive lineman JC Latham, Elliott went to his parked car in the players' parking lot to get the gun. The gun never left Elliott's parking spot, the source told Garafolo.
Multiple media outlets first reported Tuesday night that Elliott attempted to retrieve the gun from his car. Titans defensive lineman John Franklin-Myers helped to deescalate the situation, according to multiple reports.
NFL rules stipulate that players are not allowed to possess firearms at any team or league facilities.
Titans coach Robert Saleh told reporters before last Friday's practice that Elliott wouldn't be available because he was «dealing with personal stuff.» Elliott did not make the trip to Indianapolis last weekend and was was inactive for the Titans' upset victory over the Indianapolis Colts.
Elliott, 28, signed a two-year deal worth up to $8.5 million with the Titans in the offseason after spending the previous two seasons with Saleh and the San Francisco 49ers. He appeared in five games this season with one start, registering 11 tackles.
