Sorba Thomas reveals nickname he has for Huddersfield Town key figure

Huddersfield Town winger Sorba Thomas has heaped his praise on Carlos Corberan, in an interview with Yorkshire Live.

Corberan has been vitally important in Thomas’ development since his arrival at the John Smith’s Stadium in January of last year, with the 23-year-old emerging as an important part of the club’s promotion push.

Huddersfield currently occupy fifth spot in the Championship, extending their unbeaten run in the division to 13 games after Saturday’s 2-1 victory at league leaders Fulham. 

Speaking about Corberan’s influence, whilst also detailing the nickname he has for the 38-year-old, Thomas told Yorkshire Live: “He’s a very intense man. He wants to win – now and then you might get a smile off him!

“But that’s just his personality, you know what I mean? He’s a winner and he’s bringing that throughout the whole dressing room.

“A lot of people talk about maybe sometimes his man management or how he’s always screaming on the side…but listen, he’s a magician.

“For me, I call him The Professor, from [self-explanatory Spanish TV crime drama] Money Heist, because if one plan doesn’t work he’s got another plan, and he’s got another plan, and they all end up working in the end.”

The verdict 

Huddersfield struggled at the end of last season and started to head dangerously close towards the relegation zone under Corberan. 

However, the young Terriers boss has started to see success this season, in a campaign that every few would have labelled them play-off contenders. 

Having a manager who is able to adapt to the in-game demands that arise throughout the 90 minutes is certainly a big positive for a club.
