Huddersfield Town's promotion rivals' fixtures analysed in big week for chasing pack

We’re now well into March and after four years of looking at other teams’ results at this point for the wrong reasons, now we can do it for the right ones.

Huddersfield Town’s excellent season continued with a point away at West Brom on Friday night. The 2-2 draw may have been snatched from the jaws of a win but despite the nature of the game it may prove to be a good point overall.

The Terriers have a huge few days ahead with a trip to Millwall, the only team who have kept pace with them in the form table over the last six games. They then welcome Bournemouth to the John Smith’s Stadium on Saturday in what could be a pivotal game in the race for second. If Town were to win that race is most definitely on, lose and it looks like Bournemouth will have shut the door for good on that option.

With various permutations and a two-game week for most ahead, we thought we’d have a quick look to see what Town’s rivals are up to this week and what it might mean. No one is going to catch up on any of their games in hand up, but could anyone take advantage if the Terriers slip and increase the pressure at the sharper end of the league?

A point of order, it’s tight at the top. We’re calling 55 points as a cut-off for a rival here and that takes us all the way to ninth-placed Nottingham Forest as is.

We’re only including Fulham as they only have one match this week and it’s against West Brom on Tuesday – there’s no chance of Town, or anyone else, catching them. It just gives us a chance to say they it might be a marker for Town’s own result against them and to see if a mini-Baggies revival is about to take place or not.
