Son charged with murdering his own mum after stabbing outside pub
The son of a 55-year-old woman who was stabbed to death outside a pub has been charged with her murder. Karen Dempsey was rushed to hospital after being found with a stab wound to the chest at around 8.10pm on Monday (August 22).
It followed an incident outside the Brambles pub in Kirkby, Merseyside, the Liverpool Echo reports. Now, Merseyside Police has charged her son Jamie Dempsey with her murder. The 32-year-old has been remanded into custody to appear at Merseyside Domestic Violence remand court on Thursday.
Mr Dempsey, of Brechin Road, Kirkby, has also been charged with possession of a bladed article, s18 wounding with intent and affray. Another man, aged 38, was arrested at the scene on suspicion of s18 wounding and affray.

He is currently being questioned by police. Merseyside Police is urging anyone with information about where knives are being stored and who is carrying them to come forward.
