Man, 32, charged with public order offence after alleged altercation with 'missing' girl

A man has been charged with a public order offence following an alleged 'altercation' with a girl who was previously reported to be missing.

Police were called to the incident in the city centre on Tuesday (August 30). A man and teenage girl were allegedly involved in an altercation.

Officers approached the pair and the girl fled, police said. The man was arrested on suspicion of a public order offence.

Police have now confirmed that 32-year-old Paul Djimo, of no fixed address, has since been charged. Enquiries established that the girl who fled the scene had been reported as missing to police.

She has now been found safe and well. Police said a 13-year-old girl was then arrested 'for a related matter' on suspicion of police assault and racially aggravated assault.

She has since been released under investigation. In a statement, a Greater Manchester Police spokesperson said: "On 30 August 2022, Greater Manchester Police responded to reports of a possible altercation in Manchester City Centre between a man and a teenage girl.

"As officers approached the pair, the girl fled the scene. The man, Paul Djimo (32), of no known fixed address, was then arrested on suspicion of a public order offence and subsequently charged.

"It transpired that the teenage girl who fled the scene had been reported as missing on our system. She has since been located by officers safe and well.

"A thirteen year old girl was arrested for a related matter on suspicion of police assault and racially aggravated assault. She has since been released under investigation."
