Slobodan Rubezic echoes Celtic flashpoint as Aberdeen star repeats Kyogo tactic in crunching Montenegro clash

Aberdeen's Slobodan Rubezic will be forgiven for having flashbacks to facing Celtic while on Montenegro - after an eerily similar challenge that the defender put in on Kyogo Furuhashi avoided a red card again.

A key talking point from the 6-0 Scottish Premiership drubbing was the challenge made by Aberdeen defender Rubezic on Celtic's talisman Kyogo, as he clattered into the back of his head in an aerial challenge at the start of the second half at Celtic Park. The Japan international was subbed and later revealed that he could not remember leaving the pitch in Glasgow's east end - but that doesn't appear to have slowed down Rubezic's appetite for full-blooded challenges.

During the Euro 2024 qualifying contest with Lithuania, the 23-year-old was penalised in the first-half for a nasty-looking clash with Modestas Vorobjovas. However, referee Artur Dias followed on from Willie Collum at Celtic Park and kept the red card in his pocket and only showed a yellow card to the Dons defender - before his country raced into a 2-0 lead.
