Sky Sports pundit Jobi McAnuff makes admission about Sheffield Wednesday’s play-off hopes

Sky Sports pundit Jobi McAnuff has admitted that he believes that Sheffield Wednesday’s hopes of reaching the play-offs could depend on the outcome of their upcoming away fixtures.

The Owls are set to head to Bolton Wanderers, Milton Keynes Dons and Wycombe Wanderers in the coming weeks as they look to seal a place in the top-six.

Wednesday managed to move into the final play-off spot last weekend by securing all three points in their showdown with Cheltenham Town at Hillsborough.

Goals from Massimo Luongo, Lee Gregory, Jack Hunt and George Byers helped the Owls seal their 13th home league win of the season.

Whereas Wednesday currently boast the best home record in League One, they have only won six games on their travels at this level during the current campaign.

Before making the trip to the University of Bolton Stadium, the Owls will be looking to secure a positive result in their meeting with AFC Wimbledon on Saturday.

Ahead of this fixture, McAnuff has offered an honest assessment on Wednesday’s play-off credentials.

Speaking on the latest episode of the Sky Sports EFL Podcast about the Owls, McAnuff said: “Their home form has been absolutely fantastic all season and I think that’s going to be absolutely huge for them between now and the end of the season.

“Making sure they win those games and then being able to focus on some tricky away games which they have got coming up.

“So, listen, they’ve got to go to Bolton, MK Dons and Wycombe, so three tough away games and I feel in terms of them for the play-offs it’s all going to come down to how they fare and maybe being a little bit better away than they have been over the course of the season.”

The Verdict

McAnuff’s comments are spot on as the outcome of these
