Sky Sports pundit shares score prediction ahead of Sheffield United vs Reading

Looking to strengthen their position in the Championship play-off positions, Sheffield United welcome Reading to Bramall Lane this afternoon.

The Blades have enjoyed an excellent few months under Paul Heckingbottom, with the 44-year-old taking charge of the Yorkshire club back in November.

Sheffield United are without a home defeat since late October, averaging 1.9 PPG at Bramall Lane thus far this season.

Reading will be eager to improve the gap between them and Barnsley this Easter weekend, starting with what appears to be a daunting trip to Yorkshire.

The Royals are eight points clear of the Tykes, with Barnsley possessing a game in hand on the Berkshire outfit.

Issuing his score prediction via his Sky Sports column, David Prutton believes that the Blades will take a step closer to securing a play-off spot come May with a 3-1 victory.

The verdict

Sheffield United have continued to pick up results and put in some very strong performances in the absence of some key individuals this season, with the Blades being hit harder than most when it comes to injuries and player unavailability.

The Blades have shown excellent form on home soil since the turn of the year and will be eager to secure another three points against the Royals this afternoon.

Reading have shown signs of improvement under Paul Ince, but ultimately, this looks too big of an ask.

It is a big weekend for both clubs, with Reading possessing the chance to secure their Championship status for another year, should all results go their way.
