Sittingbourne manager Reece Prestedge reacts to 3-3 Isthmian South East draw at Faversham Town

Manager Reece Prestedge was frustrated after Sittingbourne’s dramatic derby draw at Faversham Town on Saturday.

The Brickies threw away a three-goal advantage, veteran striker Derek Asamoah adding to first-half goals from defenders Jack Steventon and Bagasan Graham with a penalty, as it finished 3-3 at Salters Lane.

Prestedge felt Sittingbourne were lucky there was no more than five minutes of stoppage time, which meant they at least didn’t leave the Swale derby empty-handed, after three goals for the hosts in the last 10 minutes.

“Basically, I think we have earned a point in the end,” he claimed. “But you can’t be 3-0 up away at Faversham with 10 minutes to go and sort of chuck that away.

“It’s frustrating but a point is a point.”

Asked if it was one point gained or two dropped, Prestedge replied: “If you look at it from 3-0, it’s probably two points dropped.

“But if you look at it in the last 10 minutes, you probably come away, thinking, if that goes on for any longer, they probably win that game."

Report: Faversham 3-3 Sittingbourne

The former Margate manager thought the pendulum of the contest changed in front of a 848-strong crowd when substitute Matt Newman got Town’s first.

Moments later, top scorer Tashi-Jay Kwayie set up a grandstand finish and midfielder Ethan Smith came up with a stoppage-time goal for the Lilywhites.

On the momentum shift, he said: “It was their first goal.

“Our second-half performance was a lot better than our first-half performance (until then). I thought we were on top in the game and controlled the game really well - but goals change games.

“That first one goes in and we needed to galvanise for five minutes, we didn’t, and then their second one goes in. It wasn’t panic stations from us
