Sir Alex Ferguson's message to Pep Guardiola as two new Manchester United 'leaders' revealed

Here are your latest Manchester United morning headlines for Sunday, 11 June.

Pep's text from Sir Alex Ferguson

Manchester City manager Pep Guardiola admits it is an "honour" to have equalled the achievement of Sir Alex Ferguson by winning the Treble, revealing the former Manchester United boss messaged him before the Champions League final.

City became champions of Europe for the very first time on Saturday evening, beating Inter Milan 1-0 in the Champions League final in Istanbul. Rodri scored the decisive goal to complete the Treble for Guardiola's troops, following on from their Premier League and FA Cup triumphs.

United, of course, were the only previous English club to have won the three aforementioned competitions in the same season, winning the Premier League title, the FA Cup and the Champions League back in 1998/99.

Scholes names United's leaders

Manchester United legend Paul Scholes believes Casemiro and Lisandro Martinez have become leaders for the club since being signed by Erik ten Hag.

Martinez was one of Ten Hag's first signings when he arrived from Ajax in the summer. Some pundits questioned whether the Argentina international would be able to adapt to the Premier League due to his height.

However, the centre-back proved many wrong as he overcame a shaky start to become a starter for the Reds. Meanwhile, Casemiro was deemed a standout signing when he joined from Real Madrid.

The 31-year-old soon became integral to the United midfield, anchoring the team and becoming a key asset. Speaking to the club's official website, Scholes believes both men have been crucial to the Reds' resurgence this season.
