Simon Murray transfer chase hots up as Hibs and Dundee have bids booted out by Ross County

Hibs and Dundee have both had offers turned down for Ross County’s top scorer Simon Murray.

The Premiership pair are both still in the hunt to re-sign the 32-year-old. County are reluctant to sell their main striker but he is keen to move to the central belt for family reasons. Murray previously had spells at Hibs and Dundee earlier in his career. Hibs sporting director Malky Mackay also worked with him when he was Ross County boss.

The 32-year-old hit 23 goals for the Highlanders last season and was inspirational in their fight to stay up. County boss Don Cowie would prefer to keep him but knows he could be fighting a losing battle especially as his team can cash in now on a player who is out of contract next summer. County are also set to sign up fellow striker Ronan Hale. They have had an offer from Cliftonville accepted and hope to finalise the move in the coming days.
