Simon Jordan challenges Celtic to SHUT DOWN Green Brigade section as heated pundit tells board take action or 'shut up'

Simon Jordan has thrown down the gauntlet to the Celtic board and insisted they should BAN the Green Brigade after they defied a a club warning.

The Celtic ultras were told by Hoops chiefs not to display support for Palestine and risk another potential UEFA fine but the controversial supporters group - along with many other fans inside the stadium - displayed a giant flag during the Champions League clash with Atletico Madrid.. The Green Brigade were also banned by the club for last weekend's away match at Hearts and upcoming fixtures on the road with the club pointing to behaviour at Fir Park and Feyenoord's De Kuip.

But former Crystal Palace owner Jordan has urged the Celtic decision-makers to go a step further and lockout the group from home matches - if the club stand by their original stance over displays amid the conflict in the Middle East. When discussion the actions of fans in the stands during the group stage showdown on talkSPORT Jordan first slammed the powerbrokers in football for taking a stand on any political issue.

He said: "Football and sport opened this door. It decided which causes it thought were valuable, it decided which causes it thought people should be supportive of. Of course, for very legitimate reasons football wants to abstain from this one - and I understand why. Because there are very strong views and feelings on both sides, and it is a very complicated and dangerous subject to get involved with.

"UEFA are just as bad. They start the process of what people are meant to do. But we have done this now. It is a very vocal and vociferous fan base, the Green Brigade are an interesting gang and have their views - so they are going to double down on it.
