Silence and fan anger - The Glazers are ending their Manchester United time as they started it

Tuesday, November 22 was a date that had the potential to be remembered in Manchester United's history.

The Glazers announced on that date they were 'exploring strategic opportunities' for the club, which could include selling it and that gave supporters something they had craved; a glimpse of hope their ownership could actually end.

A statement from the club said: "Manchester United does not intend to make further announcements regarding the review unless and until the board has approved a specific transaction or other course of action requiring a formal announcement."

United had most recently been valued at £3.75billiion, but given that a consortium led by the US businessman Todd Boehly had paid £4.25bn for Chelsea just a few months earlier, the keys to Old Trafford were expected to fetch more.

Avram Glazer was tracked down by Sky News in Florida a day after the announcement but he remained tight-lipped, saying: "As we announced yesterday, the board went through a process and it's decided it's going to look at different strategic alternatives."

When asked why the club hadn't been sold earlier, he reiterated the American family was now considering its options.

He added: "Well, once again, we've gone through a process, we're going to look at all different strategic alternatives and we'll see where that leads us, so I appreciate you talking to me tonight and I want to wish everyone a happy thanksgiving."

Just over 60 words were given to that reporter and Avram Glazer unsurprisingly hasn't been very talkative since, despite making three appearances at Wembley to watch United in the Carabao Cup, FA Cup and the women's side.
