Shotts boss warns of changes after drawing with Cambuslang Rangers

Shotts boss John McKeown has warned there will be changes in his team after Cambuslang Rangers fought back three times to draw 4-4 in a West of Scotland First Division cracker on Saturday.

The Hannah Park side would have gone top of the pile had they held out in what McKeown says was one of the strangest games he has ever been involved in.

And he says his players are well aware that it wasn’t good enough, as second-placed Shotts prepare to host Maybole on Saturday.

“It was one of the strangest games I’ve ever been involved in,” he said.

“I’ve been a manager now for 12 years at this level and that’s probably the worst defensive performance one of my teams has put in, so that will be sorted this week – it needs to be, because it wasn’t good enough.

“It was good for the neutral, but not good for coaches and managers! It was probably a fair result overall, there was some horrific defending throughout from our point of view, but then they’ve got good strikers that can cause you problems.

“We were missing some key personnel and that’s not really an excuse, because they’ve missed quite a chunk in the last few weeks.

“It wasn’t ideal, going into a game that we knew was going to be a physical battle, and I’ll be honest, I feel that physical nature was what caught us out.

“But we didn’t play good enough football either, and Cambuslang were certainly worthy of a point.

“Sometimes you just need to accept that we weren’t good enough.

“In the last few weeks we’ve conceded three against Bo’ness against nine men, and four goals away from home on Saturday.

“When you score four times away from home you should win the game, especially if you’re leading three times.

“The boys know it wasn’t good enough, they’re not daft, they know there
