How Manchester United could line up under Sheikh Jassim vs Sir Jim Ratcliffe after takeover

Manchester United fans continue to hope for a conclusion to the drawn-out takeover process.

It is now more than seven months since the Glazers announced their decision to 'seek strategic alternatives' for the club but fans are still in the dark over who the club's next owner will be - and whether they will be installed in time to have a significant impact on the Reds' summer transfer window plans. Manager Erik ten Hag is keen for the club to bring in new faces to help build on the encouraging first season he enjoyed at Old Trafford.

Winning the Carabao Cup, being FA Cup runners-up and securing Champions League football for next season would have been above expectation before United kicked the season off last year - even more so after the disastrous first two results in the team's Premier League campaign to Brighton and Brentford.

Ten Hag spent big in the transfer window last year, and it appears he is keen to do so once again. A new centre-forward and a dynamic midfielder have long been his primary targets heading into the window, while a new goalkeeper feels more and more likely each day as David de Gea's contract gets closer to expiring.

The United boss is stuck in something of a limbo, however, with the lack of clarity over the takeover meaning he has to battle with the tight budgets imposed upon him by the Glazers. With that in mind, MEN Sport has taken a look at how United could line up next season should Sheikh Jassim or Sir Jim Ratcliffe complete their takeover bids before the close of the summer window.
