Sheffield Wednesday's key transfer decisions to resolve include Mallik Wilks and loan moves

Sheffield Wednesday have 30 days to get their house in order before the summer transfer window slams shut. Darren Moore has landed eight new players so far.

Five of Moore's summer recruits featured in their opening day draw at home to Portsmouth. Next up is a trip to last season's third-placed side Milton Keynes Dons.

Yorkshire Live has taken a look at three key things the Owls must do in the remaining four weeks or so of the transfer window to increase their chances of challenging for automatic promotion.

Sounds simple, doesn't it? It is anything but.

"The competition really is fierce out there," said Owls chief Moore. "The type of players we are trying to compete and get are not short of one or two offers as well. We have to try our very best as we consistently do and hopefully we can get the right players into the club to push us on again."

Every department of the team has been strengthened. Seasoned players have moved to Hillsborough, sprinkled in with a touch of youth in the shape of Akin Famewo and Tyreeq Bakinson.

Moore stressed: "We know what we want; we’re not just going for anyone and everyone. They are specific targets.

"Last season the stats and figures were a real improvement at the club and to keep improving you have to keep getting better. We have looked at the dynamics of the team and some of the shortcomings and tried to correct them whilst maintaining our identity. We have only added players who tick the right boxes."

Despite overhauling his first team squad, Moore is targeting further additions. Yorkshire Live understands the Owls want to make three more signings before the September 1 deadline.
