Sheffield Wednesday new kit release latest ahead of 2022/23 League One season

There is a little over three weeks to go until the start of the 2022/23 season and Sheffield Wednesday have yet to unveil their new kit ahead of the new campaign. Should Wednesdayites be alarmed?

In a word, no. It is understood the Owls are on track with their new home and away kits as the new season draws ever closer.

This will be the second year in a row that Wednesday have worn a strip manufactured by Italian technical sportswear provider Macron. First-team players Liam Palmer, Andre Green, Chey Dunkley, Joe Wildsmith and Cameron Dawson posed for the camera to model the kit when it was launched last summer and Sheffield band The Sherlocks were also central to the big reveal. Wednesdayites got their first look at the kit on July 23, 2021 - just nine days before the Owls kicked off their campaign against Huddersfield Town in the Carabao Cup.

Based on that timescale, it is not beyond the realms of possibility that supporters could see the team wear the new home strip for the first time when Wednesday host Spanish La Liga side Rayo Vallecano in their penultimate pre-season warm-up fixture on Wednesday, July 20. Three days later, Darren Moore's team round off their friendly programme with a trip to Wigan Athletic. A week later they welcome Portsmouth to Hillsborough in their League One curtain-raiser.
