Sheffield Wednesday fan pundit delivers verdict on 26-year-old’s starting prospects

Sheffield Wednesday’s FLW fan pundit, James Mappin, doesn’t expect Dominic Iorfa to be a regular feature in Darren Moore’s defensive unit between now and the end of the League One season. 

Moore has overseen an impressive run of form in League One, with the Hillsborough outfit winning nine of their last 13 fixtures.

Iorfa has been missing for part of that run as he recovers from a hip injury, with Wednesday getting things together in his absence.

The 26-year-old has returned to play a part in three of the last five League One fixtures, even starting last night’s 1-1 draw with Accrington Stanley.

However, James explained to FLW how he feels Moore needs to stick with the players that have helped put Wednesday on this run of form.

“The run at the moment is nine wins in 12 games (prior to the draw with Accrington) with a fairly settled back-three,” James told FLW.

“Lewis Gibson came in to replace Liam Palmer at the weekend and give the balance of a left-footer.

“You can’t really replace (Sam) Hutchinson or Jordan Storey at the moment, given how well they’ve been playing.”

Despite that, James does feel like Iorfa will have a role to play during the League One run-in, as Moore rotates his squad through a busy period of fixtures and manages Sam Hutchinson’s fitness.
