Sheffield United injury latest: Osborn, Bogle, McGoldrick and status of every injured player

Sheffield United boss Paul Heckingbottom has provided an update on the fitness of his squad ahead of Wednesday night's game against Blackburn Rovers at Bramall Lane.

The Blades are looking to extend their unbeaten run to seven matches and build on the weekend's impressive 4-0 success over Swansea City which lifted them into the play-off places.

However, Heckingbottom has revealed that three of his first-team squad will be unavailable for selection until the end of the season, while a number remain doubts for the fixture.

Here is the status of every injured Sheffield United player.

The forward suffered a thigh injury in the 2-0 win over West Bromwich Albion earlier in the month and is set to undergo surgery on Tuesday, which could rule him out for the season.

Speaking in his pre-match press conference, he said: "Speaking about surgery for him, he's booked in for tomorrow and again, once you're having surgery, he's not going to be available for the season.

"It's not going to add too much time on in terms recovery if we try and treat it conservatively, so for the extra couple of weeks it might take, the decision was taken to reduce the risk of it happening again."

Like McGoldrick, Bogle is expected to be unavailble for the remainder of the campaign after suffering a cartilage issue in the knee.

Heckingbottom was hoping to manage the injury throughout the next few months, however, it has been revealed that surgery is the best possible option.

He said: "Jayden is going for an operation on Thursday which will rule him out for virtually the whole season.

"In the operation, the surgeon will perform it and we could be looking at six months but it will be a big blow.
