Sheffield United and Huddersfield Town told Championship play-off semi-final and final dates

Both Sheffield United and Huddersfield Town are hoping to secure a place back in the Premier League and the EFL has today confirmed when the Championship play-off semi-final dates will take place.

The Terriers look well set for a top six finish and as well as a play-off finish they are still not out of the automatic picture. They are currently third in the table with five games to go.

United have been the form team in the division since Paul Heckingbottom's appointment and have shot from 16th to sixth. The two sides are no strangers to play-off drama.

Town's promotion to the top flight in 2017 came via a penalty shoot-out success at Wembley, when they registered the unique feat of failing to score in the two semi-finals against Sheffield Wednesday as well as the final against Reading but still gained promotion.

Heckingbottom's men don't have fond memories of the competition, having lost in the final on four occasions, including the 2012 League One showpiece to Town following an epic shoot-out. However, the Blades will be hoping their bad luck in the play-off is over now that the Blades boss is in charge.

Not only did Heckingbottom lead Barnsley to promotion via this route as manager in 2016, but he also earned promotion as a player - with Sheffield Wednesday and Barnsley in 2005 and 2006 respectively.

The EFL has now confirmed the dates for the Championship play-offs.

Friday, May 13th - 6th vs 3rd (7:45pm)

Saturday, May 14th - 5th vs 4th (3pm)
