Sevenoaks Vine and Lordswood tie in the Kent Cricket League Premier Division while Beckenham, Bickley Park, Blackheath and Minster win

There was a tied match in the Kent League Premier Division between Sevenoaks Vine and Lordswood on Saturday.

Lordswood posted 279-8 in their 50 overs, led by centurion Joe Gordon (103) who was supported by a 47-ball 54 from Calum MacLeod.

Kent opener Ben Compton was out for just two for Sevenoaks but fellow opener Christopher Vernon had no such issues, finishing on 103 from 124 balls.

Evert Bekker (54) chipped in while James Logan ended up 68 not out from 57 balls, but they could not quite get over the line at the end.

Despite the result, Sevenoaks Vine are now sitting bottom of the Premier Division table.

Kent’s Daniel Bell-Drummond turned out for Blackheath and helped them inflict a first league defeat of the season on frontrunners Hayes.

Batting first, Blackheath reached 234-9 from 50 overs, with Bell-Drummond out for 28 and Tanweer Sikandar top-scoring with 63. Beau Couldrey (4-41) was the pick of the Hayes bowlers.

In reply, Tomas Gallagher top-scored for Hayes with 40 but, in reality, they never looked likely to chase down the target.

Opening bowler Jahid Ahmed (3-25) was the pick of the Blackheath bowlers as Hayes were 146 all out in the 33rd over.

Sandwich skipper Matthew van Poppel won the toss and elected to bat - but his side were skittled for only 74 in a heavy defeat at Beckenham.

From the outset, David Moody (2-22) began asking questions of the Sandwich batting with his pace and bounce while, at the other end, Junaid Nadir (3-18) moved in smoothly and hit the right lines immediately.

They made early inroads to leave Sandwich 23-4.

The left-handed Tom Chapman (10) tried desperately to get his side’s innings on an even keel and was given support by Ben Chapman (7).
