'Seven hour' thunderstorm warning issued by Met Office for UK - full list of 30 places to be hit

A Met Office thunderstorm warning will come into force for parts of the UK today.

The yellow weather warning covers parts of Wales, the midlands and the south of England. It will come into force at 1pm today (Saturday) and last until 8pm.

In the areas covered by the thunderstorm warning, forecasters predict that 'whilst not all places will see them, slow-moving heavy showers and thunderstorms may lead to some flooding and disruption in places'. Heavy rain is expected to cause some travel disruption on the roads, trains and buses this afternoon and there is a 'small chance' of some flooding.

Areas covered by the warning includes Swansea, Cardiff, Bath, Exeter and parts of Cornwall. Greater Manchester is not expected to be affected, with forecasters predicting a largely dry and sunny day in our region with some cloudy intervals.

The full warning on the Met Office website reads: "Consider if your location is at risk of flash flooding. If so, consider preparing a flood plan and an emergency flood kit.

"Prepare to protect your property and people from injury. Before gusty winds arrive, check to ensure moveable objects or temporary structures are well secured. Items include; bins, garden furniture, trampolines, tents, gazebos, sheds, and fences.
