Full list of upcoming televised general election debates on BBC and ITV

A number of televised debates will take place between now and the general election.

The country will go to the polls on July 4 after Prime Minister Rishi Sunak called a surprise election last month. However, prior to polling day, millions are expected to tune in to see what the main parties have to say about the major issues the public are currently facing.

Party leaders, ministers and shadow ministers will be quizzed on immigration, the environment, the cost of living crisis and the war in Ukraine.

The debates kick off on Tuesday, June 4, when Mr Sunak and Labour leader Sir Keir Starmer go head to head in an hour-long broadcast on ITV.

Here is the full list of the nine televised debates or interviews taking place between now and July 4, which will be broadcast on ITV or BBC.

When: Tuesday 4 June from 9pm to 10.10pm

Channel: ITV1

The first televised debate between Sunak and Starmer will be broadcast on ITV and moderated by Julie Etchingham. It will be filmed in front of a live studio audience.

The one-to-one will be followed by the ITV Election Interviews, which will see presenter Anushka Asthana interview the leaders of the Liberal Democrats, the SNP, Reform UK and the Greens.

When: Friday 7 June from 7.30pm to 9pm

Channel: BBC One

Mishal Husain will moderate a debate from London between leading figures from the seven biggest political parties in Great Britain.

The seven parties taking part are the Conservatives, Labour, the Liberal Democrats, the SNP, Plaid Cymru, the Green Party, and Reform UK.

Commons Leader Penny Mordaunt will represent the Conservative Party, while Angela Rayner will take part for Labour. The rest of the party representatives are yet to be announced.
