Ammanford school stabbing live updates as teenager stands trial accused of trying to murder teachers and pupil
A girl has gone on trial accused of attempting to kill two teachers and a fellow pupil at a school in south Wales. The teenager, who cannot be named for legal reasons, accepts she took a bladed fishing tool into her school and stabbed two adults and a pupil on Wednesday, April 24 last year but denies attempting to kill them.
The injuries sustained by all three at Ysgol Dyffryn Aman in Ammanford, including teachers Liz Hopkin and Fiona Elias, were not life-threatening and they were discharged from hospital a day later on Thursday, April 25. The defendant later pleaded guilty to three counts of grievous bodily harm with intent and one count of possession of a bladed article on school premises but denies three counts of attempted murder.
The trial at Swansea Crown Court is due to last more than two weeks. The judge is Paul Thomas. Representing the prosecution is William Hughes and Caroline Rees is representing the defendant.
