Second-half blitz steers Waterford to win over Tipp
League champions Waterford opened their Munster campaign with a hard-fought four-point win over Tipperary at Walsh Park.
Liam Cahill's men went into the game as strong favourites, but at half-time trailed courtesy of some wayward shooting and Mark Kehoe finishing a fine move to the net, 1-12 to 0-11.
The home side came out all guns blazing with Mikey Kiely and Dessie Hutchinson raising green flags. It appeared at that stage to be damage limitation for Tipp, but they kept plugging away and it was a one-point game coming down the stretch before Waterford finished strongly to pick up the win.
