Sean Hastie “incredibly excited” to sign for Highland League side Brechin City as striker gives thanks to Scone Thistle

Striker Sean Hastie is “incredibly excited” about his footballing future after signing for Highland League outfit Brechin City.

Hastie makes the move to Glebe Park from local Junior side Scone Thistle where he has enjoyed great success across the past couple of seasons.

The powerful forward has wasted little time in finding the back of the net for his new club. He netted against Formartine United last week when playing as a trialist.

And then he was in scoring form again on Saturday in a 5-0 triumph over Huntly.

“Scoring in my first appearance and then following that up with a goal at the weekend in my home debut was an amazing feeling and has given me confidence that I can score goals at this level,” said Hastie, a former St Johnstone youth.

“It’s still early in my career but I know I am ready to make this step up and help Brechin achieve their goals for this season and beyond.

“I want to score goals, win trophies and improve as a footballer and I am confident I can do that here at Brechin City.”

Hastie will be working under manager Gavin Price, who hails from Aberfeldy and was previously in charge at Elgin City.

“I am incredibly excited by this opportunity and I am determined to repay the faith that the manager Gavin Price and the club have shown in me,” Hastie continued.

“In football you can never expect anything but I have worked hard and was always hopeful that a move like this might happen.

“I can’t thank my Scone manager Charlie King enough for recommending me to Brechin.”

While excited about the challenge ahead, Hastie also made sure to shine the spotlight on Scone Thistle - a club he will always hold close to his heart.
