Sean Goss a Dundee transfer target as Tony Docherty offers former Motherwell man route back to Premiership

Dundee want to offer Sean Goss a return to the Premiership - as Tony Docherty looks to beef up his midfield options.

The Dark Blues are keen on the Northern Ireland international. Goss has been out of contract since he turned down a new deal at Motherwell at the end of last season. The 27-year-old has lucrative options in Greece and India. It remains to be seen if Dundee can convince him to return to Scotland. Goss has previously had spells with Rangers and St Johnstone.

Dundee were keen on Crystal Palace midfielder Killian Phillips but he looks set to join Wycombe Wanderers. Young Everton midfielder Tyler Onyango is another Dundee are keen on and will try to ramp up their interest in the coming days. Docherty admits he is “gutted” after defender Aaron Donnelly was ruled out for several weeks. The 20-year-old Nottingham Forest defender joined the Dark Blues on a season-long loan last month. However, the highly-rated Donnelly turned his ankle in training with the Premiership new boys and has now returned to his parent club to go through his rehab.

Docherty worked hard to bring the Northern Ireland squad player to Dens and he is confident this will only be a temporary setback. The manager, who saw his side draw their opening league game against Motherwell at home on Saturday, stated: “Aaron is back down at Nottingham getting treatment.

“He’s got an ankle ligament injury and it’s quite a nasty one, so he’s headed back there for his rehab. Hopefully we will get him back up as soon as possible but it’s quite a bad one so it won’t be in the near future. It certainly won’t be in the next month or so but we will keep in touch with him. He’s a brilliant boy, he’s very invested in being here and his parents were up at the game
