Seamus Power one off the lead at halfway stage of Valspar Championship

Ireland's Seamus Power is well placed to have a serious crack at the Valspar Championship after a second-round 69 left him just one shot off the leaders in Florida.

Power followed up his opening 68 with a round of two-under-par on Friday to sit on five-under overall, just behind a quintet of pace setters: Brendon Todd, Chandler Phillips, Kevin Streelman, Mackenzie Hughes and Stewart Cink.

Having started on the back nine, the highlight of Power's day came on the par-five first, which he brilliantly eagled.

He's part of a cluster of nine players on five-under heading for the weekend.

As the field endured rainy conditions at Innisbrook Resort's Copperhead Course, 20 golfers did not complete their rounds before darkness fell. They'll resume their second rounds on Saturday morning.

The five co-leaders did all manage to get through their rounds. Of the bunch on five-under, only Rico Hoey has yet to complete his 18 holes. He has two to play.
